Organ music isn’t just for churches – it pops up in all sorts of surprising places and styles. One of its most exciting roles is in bringing silent films to life, with organists improvising or creating brand new soundtracks.
Here’s a brilliant example: organist Tom Harrison has re-scored the Mickey Mouse film The Haunted House as part of his PhD – turning it into a spooky, cinematic organ experience.
Organist: Tom Harrison
Organ: Alexander Knight
Engineering: Anna Heath
Recorded at the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall, Royal College of Music, using the Flentrop organ.
